How do I create a Development Plan for my team members?
A development plan or skills assessment can only be initiated by the leader of the team member. You will receive notifications from YakTrak when it is time to conduct an assessment for each team member. For the best outcomes, it is advisable to perform a new assessment every quarter.
- From the Team Dashboard, locate and select the 'Team members' widget.
- Select the 'Show More' dropdown menu next to the team members for whom you would like to conduct an assessment.
- Under 'Current Focus', select the link that says 'No Current - click here' to proceed.
- You will be directed to the new development plan page for the selected team member.
- Work alongside your team member to jointly complete the assessment.
- The assessment responses automatically generate a Spider chart and a bar graph, which provide insightful visual representations of the team member's proficiency levels in various skills and highlight areas for potential improvement.
- Upon finishing the assessment, it's essential to determine a development focus for the team member based on the assessment results. You can set this focus at the bottom of the screen, as shown in the illustration below.
Select a primary skill for the team member to concentrate on during the upcoming weeks or months. Outline the key activities they will undertake to develop this skill. You can also adjust the team member's assessment at any time to refine the core skills they are focusing on.
